Falling over
Sometimes your day starts really shitty but you know - no matter what happens you’ll still have an awesome adventure: because you’re all purpled up.
Yesterday was a good day.
So I’ve been riding shelly a lot, the top mounting and sensitive slalom trucks remove all that security you take for granted when you’re riding a 40 inch drop through freeride deck. Push is so much harder, and Hey Presto! Speed wobbles like a boss. It’s funny to get speed wobbles when you’re going at no speed - on a strange set up. The above is my excuse for falling over like a large headed llama in front of a bus load of people. No scars on the outside…
Despite this woeful start… Yesterday was a good day.
Had a meeting with my editor about content for the next issue of the magazine. I finally have an excuse to interview one of my favourite skaters ever. Thanks moustache mike for making it happen!
Bumped into my best friend randomly and we decided to watch avengers. BUT she wanted to cycle, so of course I had to skate this sketchy-ass setup from waterloo to leicester square. For those of you who don’t live in civilisation, this is the equivalent of doing Maryhill on a Penny. After Waterloo bridge this posh lady said ”it’s awfully brave of you to be skating THIS road, during rush hour on a skateboard”. And I thought ”Yeah, inhale my greatness knave!”
The skate was awesome. Avengers was even more awesomerererEST! Cheesier than a double cheeseburger. Easy laughs but I loved it. Especially when I saw the skateboarder at the end.On the way back home I heard someone shout my name at the bus stop, I looked up and it is only Simon! 3 years ago, before London Longboards or any crap like that - I didn’t know anyone who skated. But I had a board and I convinced my 3 neighbours to get some as well. Us 4 were the original crew! And I bumped into 2 of them tonight after about 2 years! It was great.
Planning to ride ballet hill again soon.Yesterday was a bloody good day.
PS: I cooked. Unicorn bacon. With maple syrup and tiger blood.
